DESIRA is a Milan-based non-binary artist and performer whose work blurs the line between sound and body, confession and resistance.

Combining electronic and avant-pop textures with stark, cinematic visuals, Desira builds worlds where intimacy becomes confrontation.

AMARA is a five-part visual and sonic project exploring the intersections between gender, violence, and rebirth.
Each act — composed of one song and one film — dissects a different stage of self-destruction, tracing the journey from submission to emancipation.

The work unfolds through the figure of Desira, a non-binary body confronting the ghost of a violent mother and the inherited structures of control. Across the project, the body becomes both altar and battlefield: a site where beauty and horror coexist, where transformation is achieved only through loss.

In its first chapter, BINARY, the artist transforms mutilation into a language of freedom: a violent tenderness that questions what it means to inhabit a body, and to survive it.

DESIRA’s work begins where the body stops being safe. Through sound, performance, and visual imagery, they explore the tension between identity and survival, between what society imposes and what remains once it’s stripped away.

As a non-binary artist, Desira approaches self - destruction as both a political and emotional act — a way to reclaim agency over a body that refuses definition. Their practice transforms pain into structure, turning

discomfort into revelation

and beauty into resistance.

DESIRA è un* artista e performer non binari* con base a Milano, il cui lavoro sfuma i confini tra suono e corpo, confessione e resistenza.

Combinando trame elettroniche e avant-pop con immagini visive forti e cinematografiche, Desira costruisce mondi in cui l’intimità diventa confronto.

AMARA è un progetto visivo e sonoro in cinque atti che esplora le intersezioni tra genere, violenza e rinascita.
Ogni atto — composto da una canzone e un film — disseziona una diversa fase dell'autodistruzione, tracciando il percorso dalla sottomissione all’emancipazione.

L’opera si sviluppa attraverso la figura di Desira, un corpo non binario che affronta il fantasma di una madre violenta e le strutture di controllo ereditate.
Nel corso del progetto, il corpo diventa sia altare che campo di battaglia: un luogo in cui bellezza e orrore coesistono, dove la trasformazione si raggiunge solo attraverso la perdita.

Nel primo capitolo, BINARY, l’artista trasforma la mutilazione in un linguaggio di libertà: una tenerezza violenta che mette in discussione cosa significhi abitare un corpo — e sopravvivergli.

Il lavoro di DESIRA inizia dove il corpo smette di essere un luogo sicuro. Attraverso suono, performance e immagini visive, esplorano la tensione tra identità e sopravvivenza, tra ciò che la società impone e ciò che resta una volta che tutto viene spogliato via.

In quanto artista non binari*, Desira affronta l’autodistruzione come atto sia politico che emotivo — un modo per reclamare l’agenzia su un corpo che rifiuta la definizione.
